Rev. John Shillingburg is a retired UCC pastor living in Frederick, MD. He was a "late career" pastor; after taking early retirement at age 55 from his second career occupation as a management consultant, he and his wife Rebecca entered Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. Upon graduation in 2011, they were called as co-pastors of Jefferson United Church of Christ in Jefferson, MD, where they served for five years, followed by a three-year call as designated co-pastors at St. John's United Church of Christ in Sabillasville, MD. Following their second retirement, they are now members of Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in Frederick, where John is active in teaching adult education Bible studies. John served on the Catoctin Association Church & Ministry Commission, chairing the Commission during his last two years, John was also active on the leadership team for the 2017 General Synod in Baltimore and served as a delegate from the Central Atlantic Conference to the 2019 and 2021 General Synods.
